From the Founder

Being raised by two analysts, as soon as I could read I had to look up the answers to any question that I had in our Encyclopedias, and for further research at the library. This became the foundation of everything that I have become.
I started out as what some people call a generational herbalist. I am grateful that both sides of my family come from a long tradition of using what the land provided for nourishment as well as aiding the healing process. These folk remedies have been passed down and adapted throughout the generations based on environment and availability; I was raised that this was a way of life, not a profession.
I didn’t associate this with herbalism or holistic medicine until I had spinal meningitis just before my thirteenth birthday. When the doctors sent me home with warnings and very little hope given, my mother turned back to nature. I complained that I didn’t like what I was taking, so my mother made me a deal: look at what each thing was providing for me and research how I could get the same benefits from other plants, fruits, and vegetables. Through this research of trying to find more palatable immune healing and support the connection between nutrients, medicinal constituents and plants came alive. These herbs not only saved my life, but I was healthier than I had ever been. Shortly after I worked at a summer camp for chronically ill children, and continued researching natural remedies and how to use plants to balance our bodies.
While studying to become a physician, I noticed that treatments were more about minimizing symptoms than finding why the symptoms were occurring, and finding ways to work with people’s bodies on a case-by-case basis. I also saw that we were not being taught about the enzymes being synthesized to make the pharmaceuticals, and where they originated or how they were discovered. Finding the research of how and why is where I excelled. I started using the information I learned for myself, family and friends as they needed it catered to their bodies. When sharing my research, people often asked me for resources and if I could provide them; I provided information, but lacked confidence in assisting with anything that was not topical. I knew the only way to get the confidence in utilizing my years of research was to formally study herbalism, and not just research, but implement my knowledge to aid others in finding what their bodies need to be balanced and healthy.
I take being chosen to be a part of my client’s care team very seriously, and find the best results working with the medical professionals that they have chosen to care for them. I work carefully to assure there are no interactions with any medications or treatments that my clients have chosen to consume. Helping each of my clients to achieve balance in our ever changing environments and lives is my goal.
